Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024

Canada’s immigration targets have been raised yet again. It will aim to welcome about 432,000 new immigrants this year, rather than the 411,000 it had planned.

Canada will aim for the following number of new immigrant arrivals over the next three years:

431,645 permanent residents in 2022
447,055 permanent residents in 2023
451,000 permanent residents in 2024

To help support these higher levels, the Government of Canada recently announced a plan to modernize Canada’s immigration system to boost economic recovery and improve client experience, which will aid in addressing key challenges faced by our clients, such as reducing inventories and providing the predictable processing times that they expect and deserve. IRCC plans to hire almost 500 new employees and are working towards digitizing applications and reallocating work to all the offices around the world.

Some of the highlights of the plan include to increase overall admissions to 1.14% of the Canadian population by 2024, long term focus to include nearly 60% of the admissions in the economic class and to maintain the 12 months processing standard for spouses and children.
